Shubham GargFor protecting the interest of employees, Central Government is taking various steps in the organized sector against the events of sickness, maternity, disablement or death due to injury at employment etc. Government of India has notified many enactments for taking care of the health of the working people, out of which Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 is one of the most important Act. It was first implemented at Kanpur and Delhi on 24th February 1952 an thereafter in other States. In past few months, Government has implemented the Employees State Insurance Act 1948 in many districts of various states.

As per power conferred by sub-section (3) of Section 1 of the Employees State Insurance Act 1948, provisions of Chapter IV (except Sections 44 and 45 which already brought into force ) and Chapter –V and VI(except Sub-section (1) of Section 76 and Sections 77 ,78,79 and 81 which have already into force ) of the said act shall come into force for implementation of Employees State Insurance Act 1948 in various districts.

In following jurisdictions, Central Government has notified effective date, from which this act will be effective:-
