How MCD Trade License in Delhi Works With LexComply

Premises and Trade Assessment

We confirm that your Delhi premises falls under MCD rather than NDMC or the Delhi Cantonment Board, identify the trade you carry on, and decide whether a general trade, factory or health trade licence applies. You get a written note on the licence and the department.

Property Tax Record Check

Because the fee is now paid with property tax, we check that the premises has a UPIC, that ownership or tenancy is recorded correctly and that property tax is up to date. Gaps here are fixed first, since the receipt becomes the licence.

Trade Details and Documents

We prepare what MCD has asked its portal to collect: whether the trade is run by the owner or a tenant, the UPIC, the trader's name with a photograph, address proof such as a rent agreement, the front fascia, trade area in square metres, number of trades and trade description.

Payment and Licence Receipt

The fee is paid with property tax on MCD's portal, 15% of property tax for a general trade licence or 5% for a factory in a recognised industrial area. We check that the receipt carries the licence endorsement and file it in your records.

Yearly Tracking in Delhi

From then on, LexComply's compliance register holds the receipt with the rest of your Delhi premises' obligations. Each year's payment, any change of trade owner or description that needs MCD approval, and separate fire and pollution clearances are tracked, so no licence year lapses unnoticed.

When an MCD Trade Licence Needs a Specialist

A single shop with a clean property tax record can often pay the licence fee on MCD's portal without help. A specialist earns its place when the property tax record is incomplete or in the landlord's name, when you run several premises across Delhi zones, when a factory sits outside a recognised industrial area, or when old licences are expiring and need to move to the new payment route. What drives the cost is the number of premises, the state of each property tax record and how many licence types are involved. LexComply quotes that before work starts.

MCD Trade License Consultant FAQs

What does an MCD trade license consultant do?

An MCD trade license consultant works out which Municipal Corporation of Delhi licence your premises needs, checks that the property tax record and UPIC support it, prepares the trade details the portal asks for and confirms the receipt carries the licence endorsement. LexComply then tracks each licence year in its compliance platform.

Is a separate MCD general trade licence still issued?

No. Under MCD's order of 30 April 2026, the general trade or storage licence fee is paid with property tax on the property tax portal, at 15% of property tax, and the receipt is treated as the licence under section 417 of the DMC Act, 1957. Licences already issued stay valid for their period.

Do factories in Delhi still need an MCD factory licence?

Factories in industrial areas established or recognised by GNCTD or DSIIDC, including notified unplanned clusters, do not get a separate licence. Since MCD's order of 28 July 2025 they pay 5% of property tax, and the Udyam certificate (MSME units) or the allotment letter or lease deed (large units) is recognised as the licence under sections 416 and 417.

Can an MCD trade license consultant help if my property tax record is wrong?

Yes. Because the receipt now doubles as the licence, the premises needs a UPIC and a correct ownership or tenancy record before you pay. An MCD trade license consultant identifies the gaps, such as tax in a landlord's name or an outdated area, and sorts them out before the licence payment is made.

What are MCD trade license consultant fees?

There are two parts. The government fee is now a share of property tax: 15% for a general trade or storage licence and 5% for a factory in a recognised industrial area. The professional fee depends on the number of premises, the state of each property tax record and the licence types involved. LexComply quotes both before work starts.

Is the MCD health trade licence the same as the general trade licence?

No. They are separate MCD licences. The general trade or storage licence covers permitted general trades and storage, now including laundries and chemists moved over by an order of 15 June 2026, and is paid with property tax. The health trade licence is the Public Health Department's own licence for trades such as gyms, salons and hotels.

Does the MCD trade licence remove the need for fire and pollution approvals?

No. MCD's factory order of 28 July 2025 keeps the deemed licence valid only while the owner follows other legal norms and obtains the clearances other authorities require, and MCD's trade licence guidelines leave any fire safety certificate to the applicant. Fire certificates come from Delhi Fire Service and pollution consents from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee.

Do I need an MCD trade license consultant for one shop in Delhi?

Often not. A single shop with a clean property tax record can pay the licence fee on MCD's portal directly. An MCD trade license consultant earns its fee when you have several premises, the tax record is incomplete, a factory sits outside a recognised industrial area, or old licences need to move to the new route.
