The Ministry of MSME has received multiple requests from various organizations for using its logo in events related to the MSME sector both within India and internationally.
Organisations here includes any establishments, offices and officers of the M/o MSME, Indian Embassies / Missions abroad, Industry Associations, Non-Government Organization (NGOs), Not for Profit Organization etc.
The Ministry supports the organization of events that promote the MSME sector but emphasizes the need for caution in granting permission to use its logo to avoid misuse and public misgivings.
Points to be Kept in mind before using the MSME Logo
- Permissible Use Without Permission
The Places where the MSME Logo can be used without permission are as under:
- All MSME Ministry establishments, offices, and officers.
- Indian Embassies/Missions abroad for events and materials approved under the Ministry’s International Cooperation Scheme.
- Prohibited Use

Use of the logo on publications, websites/portals, awards, certificates, directories, catalogues, letterheads, and visiting cards is not permitted due to potential public misinterpretation.
- Use with Prior Approval

Events not organized by the Ministry need prior approval based on the below-mentioned parameters:
- Nature and importance of the Event
- The organizer’s profile/track record.
- The participant and delegate profiles.
- Additional offerings like exhibition space and distribution of MSME publicity material.
Steps to be followed to obtain Permission to Use the MSME Logo:
- Requests are submitted to the Joint Secretary (SME) with full details and are examined based on the SOP. Applications must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
- The MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO) reviews the credentials/background of the applicant organization.
- Approval by the Joint Secretary (SME) is required, with the Ministry reserving the right to request additional details or withdraw permission. They may preview the design and layout of use before finalization.
- The Ministry may at any time withdraw permission with notice and without reason.
Conditions for Granted Permission
- Compliance with “The Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1950.”
- Ensuring proper respect and prominence to the Ministry’s logo and the National Symbol.
- There is a restriction on using the logo for promotional and non-commercial purposes without the right to secure sponsorship or collect money.
- Ensure no promotion of the sale of any particular product is conducted during the event.
- Association of the Ministry and/or its organizations with the event organization, including offering a prominent place for Ministry officers and including them as speakers or panellists.
- Providing a stall/booth to the Ministry or its participating organizations at no cost.
- Submission of a Feedback Report on the event by the organizers.
Consequence on contravention
Violation or misuse of the Ministry’s logo support can result in the concerned organizer being blacklisted for three years.
