According to the report ‘Warehousing Market in India 2021’, the warehousing industry which valued at 1,050 billion in 2020 is expected to expand at a CAGR of 14.86 per cent between 2021 and 2025, taking the value to 2,028.86 billion by 2025. This speaks loud about the importance of warehouses any business.

Selection of right warehouse is key commercial decision to ensure business continuity and maximize the profit. Mostly selection criteria of warehouse are based on commercial and location aspect with some minor elements of legal compliance. However, we should give due importance to legal and compliances aspect as any deficiency may impact the operations at warehouse resulting in revenue and business losses.

  4. Permission for the building from the authorities
  5. Approvals under environment laws
  6. Approval for DG set
  7. Fire NoC
  8. Registration under Labour Laws
  9. Approval for storage of diesel
  10. Adherence to National Building Code
  11. Fire fighting arrangements
  12. Test report of fire fighting equipment’s
  13. PAN
  14. GST registrations
  15. Trade license
  16. Approved electricity connection
  17. Approvals for erection of lift
  18. Arrangement for testing and maintenance of lifts
  19. Registration under Warehousing and Development Regulation Act, if storing agricultural produce;
  20. Approvals from custom authorities , if located in custom area;
  21. Registration of Private Security Agency.
  22. Arms license if security guards have arms
  23. Approval for ground water extraction in case extraction of ground water;
  24. Approval connection for water supply
  25. Agreements with vendors authorized by Pollution Control Board for collection of hazardous, plastic , bio medical and e-waste
